Katheryn Wright, PhD, SOCKS Social Team member and Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies and Digital Humanities at Champlain College, presented a talk entitled: "AI: Our Newest Digital Companion," reflecting on the forming relationship between humans and artificial intelligence in our modern society. The event was part of the 50 Forward Fall Festival in celebration of the 50th anniversary year of Vermont Humanities and part of National Arts and Humanities Month, held at the Burnham Memorial Library in Colchester, VT on October 23, 2024.
“‘AI: Our Newest Digital Companion' overviewed the importance of artificial intelligence within the digital humanities both as an object of study and a digital tool to analyze culture," said Dr. Wright regarding her presentation. "The talk also presented some practical questions anyone can ask as they use AI more and more in their daily lives, including why it's important to identify power dynamics and establish appropriate boundaries."
