Design Inspirations: Examples and Sketches

This information supplements the "Designing your Rain Garden" section of the Rain Garden Manual for Vermont and the Lake Champlain Basin.

Overview

Below are some example design sketches to help you get started on your rain garden. These sketches come from an earlier version of the Rain Garden Manual and have not been updated to reflect our recommendation to increase the use of natives in GSI.

While we recommend tailoring the garden to your unique style and preferences- check out this article by Leonard Perry, UVM Extension- also consider swapping out some of these plants for more native plant species.
