Welcome to International Student Pre-Orientation! As you look at the schedule, you will notice that some sessions are required and others are optional. We encourage you to attend the optional sessions to learn more about UVM and Burlington and how to make the most of your time here. We look forward to seeing you in the sessions!

Reminders for this week:

  • Wondering where a building is? Find it here on the campus map.
  • Not sure where to eat? Find out what's open now. See your dining information sheet in your orientation folder for more information.
  • Emergency? If you need the police, firefighters, or immediate medical attention, call 911. Otherwise, talk to an OIE staff member during the day, or call UVM Police Services at +1-802-656-3473.

Join UVM President Suresh Garimella for a reception welcoming all new international students. This is a social event. Dress is casual, but you will have opportunities to meet senior UVM staff, so most students decide not to wear jeans. Family members are welcome, but you should respond to the invitation from the President's office to tell us who is joining you.

All new students beginning their time at UVM in Fall 2023 are required to attend the programming happening from Thursday at 3PM through Sunday to make connections, become familiar with additional resources and policies of being a student at UVM, and settle in. Follow your schedule provided by the Orientation office for more details.

Opening Weekend - August 23-25

International Student Pre-Orientation is over, but there is lots going on for you to connect to UVM both academically and socially. Some of the schedule of what you should attend will depend on which residence hall you are living in and what orientation group you are assigned to. Other events will be for all UVM students. Check out the Orientation website and the UVM Bored website for more about what is happening, and talk with your Resident Advisor or other ResLife staff members for more details about what might be happening in your residence hall.
