Melissa Davidson, M.D., currently holds the position of associate dean for graduate medical education at the Larner College of Medicine. Dr. Davidson, who joined the University of Vermont (UVM) in 2013, is an associate professor specializing in anesthesiology and pediatrics. Before her tenure in Vermont, she served as an associate professor and assistant dean for graduate medical education at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School. At UVM, her leadership roles have included serving as the director of anesthesia education since 2014, as well as chairing the Clinical Competence Committee for the anesthesiology residency, which oversees faculty development within the department. She is also a member of the Teaching Academy Task Force at the Larner College of Medicine and was recognized as a Distinguished Educator of the Teaching Academy in 2015.

At the UVM Medical Center, Dr. Davidson established the Chief Resident Leadership Workshop, which is now part of the Teaching Academy. She has been instrumental in developing a new evaluation system that aligns with the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Milestones Project, sharing its framework nationally through an abstract. Furthermore, she has played a key role in revising the curriculum for the medical student elective in anesthesiology.

Dr. Davidson's contributions extend to national organizations, including membership in The American Society of Anesthesiologists and active participation in The Society for Education in Anesthesia. Since 2005, she has served on the Committee for ACGME Competencies and the Committee on Research in Education, and co-directs their Annual Workshop on Teaching. Additionally, she is an associate editor of MedEdPORTAL, an organization that has recognized her as an Outstanding Reviewer.

Dr. Davidson earned her medical degree and completed her residency in anesthesiology at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, after which she joined the Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology. She was promoted to associate professor in 2004 and appointed assistant dean for graduate medical education in 2007. Over the course of ten years, she served as vice chair of education and program director for the Department of Anesthesiology, while she also took on the role of interim chair in 2002 and again from 2010 to 2012.
