Dr. John King, M.D., M.P.H., is a professor and vice chair for academics and regional development in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine, where he serves as the associate dean for continuing medical and interprofessional education (CMIE). He earned his undergraduate degree from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. King completed his residency in family medicine at Duke University and received a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina.

Since joining the Larner College of Medicine faculty in 2004, Dr. King has played a key role in the successful establishment of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y., which is notable for being the first UVM residency outside of the UVM Medical Center and serves as a model for academic integration within the UVM Health Network. He has been recognized with the Family Medicine Teacher of the Year Award and holds the title of Distinguished Educator in the Larner College of Medicine Teaching Academy. Dr. King has also been a member of the planning committee for the Larner CMIE Primary Care and Behavioral Health Conference since 2015 and directed the inaugural Larner CMIE Wilderness Medicine Conference in 2019.
