Microsoft Planner is a task and plan management application available to UVM affiliates through our Microsoft 365 license. Users can keep track of individual or group tasks, configure reminders, and add additional details to each task, including steps, a description, comments, and tags.
Entries can be viewed in the default board view, but also in an Excel-like grid view, a chart view which offers some analytics on the plan, and through a schedule view which offers a calendar with upcoming events plotted.
Getting Started
Microsoft provides documentation on getting started with and using Planner. Below, we’ve linked to some articles that address common questions.
Creating a new Plan
Two common ways to create a new plan are:
- Adding a plan to an existing Teams channel, which also grants everyone in that team access to the plan. Click the plus sign [+] at the top of your channel window and select Planner.
See Microsoft’s help article for adding a Planner tab to a Teams channel. - Adding a plan in the planner web app. Visit planner.cloud.microsoft and log in with your UVM netid account. If you land in a recent plan, click “My Plans” and then “New Plan”.
