Though he describes them as "gypsies" these campers were most likely middle class vacationers who came during the summer months to enjoy the rural scenery along Lake Champlain.

It should be noted that there is some doubt about when the Burlington Free Press article was written and also some confusion about whether the dates for the start of the trailer park are correct. Though Mr. Farrington is quoted as saying the Farrington's Trailer Park was started in 1923, other evidence would suggest that this is unlikely. It is possible that campers used the farm in the 1920s and1930s, but maps, land use records and especially interviews with participants suggest a later date for the start of the permanent trailer park. 10
