Informational Event for Masters of Landscape Architecture

May 1, 2024
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Marsh Life Science 129 (Landscape Design Studio)

Ever had interests in Horticulture, Art, STEM, or People? Ever wondered how to design a landscape? Considering applying to Grad Schools soon? Well¿ Landscape Architecture could be the field for YOU!!!
Landscape Architecture is a designated STEM profession that connects people with the natural world by designing various aesthetic, sustainable, and revitalized landscapes for the benefit of our communities and the environment. While UVM does not offer an MLA program, there are over 100 MLA/ MSLA (master of science landscape architecture) programs across the US.
For the first time, UVM¿s Plant and Soil Science program will be hosting an informational Master¿s of Landscape Architecture (MLA) event. Come view past/ current UVM student landscape design work, enjoy snacks and network with professors, landscape architects, & students, and listen to a Panel of UVM Professors (all with MLA degrees) talk about their personal experiences, research, challenges, & advice on MLA programs followed by a quick Q&A session!
This event is designed to help inform students of what it means to be/ become a landscape architect, what a Master of Landscape Architecture/ Master of Science Landscape Architecture is, what¿s required to prepare for applying, and what the different options are after securing the degree.
We would also like to offer the opportunity for students who have taken a Landscape Design Studio course or other PSS course with a Landscape Design Project to have them on display during the event. Past/ Current student projects will be available to view on a slide show played during the networking portion of the event, along with some physical copies pinned up on the walls as well.
