Student Involvement | Office of Engagement | The University of Vermont(title)

The University of Vermont is an engine that state organizations and businesses can plug into to solve existing challenges and build long-term capacity.

A key institutional goal at UVM is for every student, in every major, to have at least one experiential learning opportunity under their belt by the time they graduate. That means there are 10,000 talented UVM undergraduates ready to help support your enterprise through internships.

At UVM, we believe an internship should be a reciprocal and win-win experience for host and student. As a host, you’ll help students explore and expand their career options, build professional connections, and deepen their classroom learning while contributing to the goals of your organization. In return, interns bring increased capacity, new energy, and unique perspectives to your workplace.

Grant Funding Opportunities Include Student Involvment

The Office of Engagement also partners with the Leahy Institute for Rural Partnerships (LIRP) on bi-annual rounds of funding for projects in many sectors including regenerative agriculture, community schools, transportation, housing, resilient energy systems, rural healthcare and more. Involving UVM faculty or student partners is a requirement for funding. Learn how you can engage with UVM students through internships and/or service learning as part of a funded project.

Summer Internship Program

The Leahy Institute for Rural Partnerships also offers a unique place-based Summer Internship Program designed to:

  1. Build partnerships between the UVM and rural Vermont communities
  2. Support high quality internship opportunities for UVM students in rural Vermont
  3. Advance community resilience and Vermont’s economy

LIPR Internship Coordinator, Kristen Andrews, works with intern hosts to develop engaging intern projects and post and promote the opportunities.
