Ms. Scacciaferro practiced and taught Healing Touch at Fletcher Allen Health Care (now the University of Vermont Medical Center), where she served as critical care nurse and nurse manager for 24 years. She implemented multidisciplinary rounds and resident orientation in critical care and provided direct care, including complementary therapies, to patients and their families.
In 2001, Ms. Scacciaferro was awarded a $1.7 million H-1B Technical Skills Training grant for operating room nurse training and critical care internship programs offered through the Vermont Department of Employment and Training. Under her leadership, the Holistic Critical Care Nurse Internship was named one of six exemplary H-1B programs in the nation by the U.S. Department of Labor.
She currently serves as school nurse at Vergennes Union High School, where she provides holistic nursing and emergency care; case management for students with acute and chronic health care challenges. She was the coordinator of the Addison Northwest Supervisory Union Wellness Programs from 2010 – 2016, during which time she secured $91,000 in Vermont Education Health Initiative funding for staff wellness.
Ms. Scacciaferro is a certified Healing Touch practitioner/instructor who has taught Healing Touch levels 1-5 at UVM since 2002.
