Clinical Assistant Professor, Director of Simulation Education

Sarah Manacek is a registered nurse with a clinical background in acute care and specialty surgery. She joined the University of Vermont faculty in 2022. Sarah is passionate about leveraging technology to unleash our most human elements in the process of learning: feeling connection, celebrating diversity, and valuing creativity. She stands at the intersection of nursing, education, and technology.

Sarah believes that teaching and learning is a shared social process that is most effective in authentic environments. She strives to approach teaching with a transformational leadership style to empower students to realize their fullest potential. She creates a safe space for students from all backgrounds and with diverse learning styles to problem-solve, reflect on the process, and become creative practitioners dedicated to lifelong learning.

Sarah’s research interests center on leveraging technology to enhance the accessibility of nursing education and suit the needs of diverse learners. Her goal is to enhance access to experiential learning opportunities and reduce attrition to address the emergent need for nurses.
