Dear Friends,
As I write, our students are finalizing their terminal papers and projects and beginning to take their finals. It has been a productive semester. The endeavors we undertook at the beginning of the semester are all well underway and taking substantive shape. Spotlight on Geography
The Geography Department consists of an energetic, research-active, and diverse faculty who have interests spanning from the local to the global, from climate change to the daily mobility of marginalized groups, using methods from ethnography to geographic information systems. CAS Staff Appreciation
The College of Arts and Sciences annual Staff Recognition Luncheon was held on Tuesday, October 8, in the Livak Ballroom at the Davis Center. Studying the Biography of Cancer
When Dean Antonio Cepeda-Benito secured funding for a new teaching initiative, the Enhancing Excellence through Interdisciplinary Experiential Engagement or EEIEE, the hope was to have high-impact learning practices (e.g., first-year seminars, learning communities, service learning, internship experiences, undergraduate research, capstone experiences) that not only fostered student engagement and deepened learning but also improved retention, persistence to degree completion, and postgraduate attainment.
