Avi Waring is a native Vermonter who studied classical ballet and modern dance with the Vermont Ballet Theatre School, Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, MA and the Newcomb Dance Company at Tulane University in New Orleans. From 1999-2004, she studied and performed improvisational dance and sketch comedy with the Heretica Dance Company of Zendik Arts. She returned to VT in 2005, and co-founded Ballet Wolcott, a dance school dedicated to creativity and community through dance. Avi is a co-founder of The Montpelier Movement Collective, and is also a freelance dancer who has worked with many local dance artists including Paul Besaw, Hannah Dennison, Polly Motley, Pauline Jennings. and Maris Wolff. Avi is also a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, and brings her own fascination with anatomy and biomechanics to her dance teaching.
