BIO

My students and I focus on the ecology and evolution of malaria parasites (Plasmodium and related genera) to pursue a broad range of studies on the interaction between parasite and host and the genetic and systematic diversity of the parasites. Our studies are both in the field and laboratory and include long-term field studies, molecular genetics, and molecular systematics. Thus we blend traditional parasitological methods (dirty fingernails field biology and microscope studies) with modern molecular genetics.
