Plant Identification
Similar to P. tremuloides but restricted primarily to the northeastern U.S., the Lake States, and southeastern Canada. Leaves are 2-3" in length, suborbicular, and coarsely dentate with a flattened petiole. Young leaves have a whitish tomentose. Twigs are dull brownish-gray with gray buds which are usually pubescent and divergent. Bark is orangish-green when young, becoming brown and furrowed with age.
