Plant Identification
A small tree found in swamps near the coast from MA to FL and west to Texas. Leaves are tardily deciduous (evergreen in south), about 5" long, and oblong-elliptical with silvery hairs (whitish) below. Twigs are glabrous and buds have silvery hairs. Fruit is similar to M. acuminata. Bark is similar to M. fraseri.
