I worked as a sales and marketing intern for Native Energy, a carbon offset provider based in South Burlington (they will be moving this summer, 2011). I worked on updating and reformatting their carbon emissions calculator for the first part of the internship. This involved a lot of research and Microsoft excel work. I found emissions factors published by the EPA, the World Resources Institute, and others. I then inserted them in the carbon calculator spreadsheet, and later tried t optimize the formatting. Next I worked on researching web trends and website optimization. Native Energy is redoing their website this summer. I found benchmark data for other carbon offsetting websites. I then researched ways to optimize the site for both sales and search engine hits. I attended a few staff meeting and learned how a carbon offset company functions from the inside.
