CLINTON/GORE HAVE DONE A TERRIBLE JOB ON PRIVACY ISSUES

PRIVACY EFFORTS IN THE BANKING BILL WERE DOWNGRADED TO ASSIST IN FUNDRAISING FOR HILLARY CLINTON'S SENATE CAMPAIGN

Robert Scheer, The Denver Post, November 18, 1999 SECTION: DENVER & THE WEST; Pg. B-11 TITLE: Clinton caves in to the banks on the privacy issue // acs-EE2001

Clinton uttered some vague promises about backing stronger privacy protection in the future, but the broad smile on his face as he signed this giveaway to Wall Street made his priorities all too clear. The financial interests that dumped more than $ 300 million into the passage of this bill - the most expensive lobbying effort in history - are essential to Hillary Clinton's U.S. Senate campaign. No one gets elected from New York who doesn't play ball with Wall Street interests. That is why New York Democratic Sen. Charles E. Schumer, a big Hillary backer, so strenuously lobbied Clinton to sign this law.

DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATION PROMOTES WATCHING OVER ITS CITIZENRY WITHOUT CONCERN FOR THEIR RIGHTS

If being a Democrat once meant believing the Bill of Rights applies to more than just private property and gun ownership, Attorney General Janet Reno, FBI director Louis Freeh and President Bill Clinton have proved otherwise.

Like the good paternalistic parent, they seem to think government governs best when it knows how its children are behaving. There's no need, apparently, to worry about silly constitutional rights.

DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATION HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO PROTECT ONLINE PRIVACY

ROBYN E. BLUMNER St. Petersburg Times, March 14, 1999, SECTION: PERSPECTIVE; Pg. 4D TITLE: Hand over your driver's license and your DNA Web // acs-EE2001

As to privacy on the computer, the Clinton administration doesn't want there to be any. For years the administration sought to force computer makers to give it a decryption key to all encryption codes embedded in new machines. It's a dispute that's still unresolved. Meanwhile, Clinton is still hampering the development of American products with strong encoded security systems by restricting the export of encryption technology.

DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATION HAS PROMOTED BIG BROTHER GOVERNMENT

ROBYN E. BLUMNER St. Petersburg Times, March 14, 1999, SECTION: PERSPECTIVE; Pg. 4D TITLE: Hand over your driver's license and your DNA Web // acs-EE2001

Clinton failed those of us who voted for him, not because he's a sexual degenerate, but because he has actively worked to dismantle protections against Big Brother government. Reno, Freeh and Clinton have ignored their oath of office, to defend and protect the Constitution. Instead, they believe their good intentions trump individual rights. That's a dangerous idea embraced by all leaders who abuse their power.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATION HAVE A TERRIBLE RECORD ON PRIVACY PROTECTION

ROBYN E. BLUMNER St. Petersburg Times January 23, 2000, SECTION: PERSPECTIVE; Pg. 1D TITLE: Security program threatens privacy // acs-EE2001

While Clinton pays lip service to privacy concerns - he announced the initiative by saying "it is essential that we do not undermine liberty in the name of liberty" - his administration has a shameful track record of protecting the privacy of Americans. Under Clinton's watch, the use of roving wiretaps has been approved, a huge worker database was established to track the movements of every employee in the country and the telecommunications industry was forced to retrofit its systems to give the FBI and law enforcement the opportunity to listen in.
