COUNTERPLAN/NUCLEAR ABOLITION
MOVEMENT: THE NUCLEAR ABOLITION MOVEMENT IS GAINING STRENGTH
IN THE FACE OF MASSIVE NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION, THE NUCLEAR ABOLITION MOVEMENT IS GAINING STRENGTH
PEACE ACTION EDUCATION FUND, August 1999 Time to Abolish Nuclear Weapons
http://www.webcom.com/peaceact/abolition_alert.html //VT2002acslnMeanwhile an ever-growing number of countries are lining up to join the nuclear club; increasing the risk of a nuclear catastrophe somewhere on the planet. But against this chilling backdrop, a new worldwide movement is taking shape among governments and citizens groups to abolish nuclear weapons once and for all. Even the U.S. Pentagon, faced with the prospect of spending billions of dollars on maintaining nuclear weapons that we clearly no longer need, is quietly urging President Clinton to unilaterally scrap thousands of nuclear weapons.
NUCLEAR ABOLITION MOVEMENT IS GROWING
Karina Wood, Peace Action Education Fund July 1999. The Road to Nuclear Abolition
http://www.webcom.com/peaceact/abolition_fs.html //VT2002acslnAgainst this nuclear overkill, a growing movement has emerged to push for total nuclear disarmament. The Abolition 2000 network, an international coalition of over 1000 organizations, has rallied support from numerous respected military and civilian leaders, conducted polls showing widespread support for abolition, and initiated proposals in the United Nations and elsewhere to take steps toward total nuclear disarmament.
NUCLEAR WEAPONS CAN DESTROY US, BUT CAN ALSO UNITE US TO SAVE OURSELVES
David Krieger, President of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. 11.28.2000 A Victory for All Humanity
http://www.peacenet.org/disarm/ //VT2002acslnNuclear weapons are powerful, but not as powerful as human beings. Nuclear weapons can only defeat us if we allow them to do so.
Nuclear weapons have the power to create the final unalterable silence, but only if humanity is silent in the face of their threat.
Nuclear weapons have the power to destroy us, but also to unite us.
