There is no mention of a resident until 1879 when Charles H. Clough, a harness maker took up shop and residence on Poplar Street, relocating it from Cherry Street between Pine and Champlain streets [1] . Charles Clough's shop was housed at 10 Poplar Street and his home at 6 Poplar Street [2] . In 1890 the property is listed as owned by Mrs. D. Clough [3] and the harness makers shop had been moved to 12 Mechanics Street [4] . David Clough, a relative of Mrs. D. Clough, was an engineer at the Venetian Blind Company and boarded at this address. The Clough Family remained in residence here well into the early decades of the 20th Century, but took up boarders [5] . After the 1920s the house changed hands often.
