What still stands from between 1869 and 1877 in Burlington, Vermont?
The structure is a north facing, two and one-half story, gable front three bays wide, with a front facade entrance. The building seems largely unchanged from when it was constructed [1] . The structure is made up of a main block and a one and one-half story gable roof addition at the rear.
The historic survey [2] gives the date built as 1870, and stated that it was probably built as a resident-owned, single family dwelling that seemed to have become a rental property by the 1880s. The house was built on property that was owned by J. B. Roberge in 1869 [3] who was a blacksmith that later became a grocer and lived on the corner of Champlain Street and Monroe Street [4] . G. M. Lord was the first known occupant of this house in 1877 until after 1912 [5] with some boarders. After Lord moved out the house it was the residence to a number of different people for short periods of time.
