1.       George S. Laird, 11 May 1853 in Rochester, VT.  He was the son of John and Lorinda Laird.  He served as private in the 2nd Vermont Light Artillery, and died of disease while in the army, 23 August 1862.  Mary F. applied for a widow’s pension four months later.

1850 Rochester, Windsor County, VT (dwelling 127).  Oliver P. Smith (39) and Lovina (47) are living in Rochester with their children Mary F. (14), Joel B. (12), Franklin (10), and Lucy (5).
1860 Rochester, Windsor County, VT (dwelling 185).  Mary (23) and husband George Laird (26) are enumerated next to her parents Oliver (50) and “Vina” (60) Smith.
