MARRIED William Brink, Jr.  The son of William Brink and Naoma Wilkins (1780-1860), he was born 06 March 1811 in Manchester, VT, and died 27 June 1886 of an “enlargement of heart” in Hubbardston, VT.
CHILDREN

1.       Diantha Maria Brink, b. 17 April 1838, d. 11 April 1920, m. John Dutton.

2.       Norman A. Brink, b. 1840, d. 03 June 1864 in Cold Harbor, VA, m. Addie E. Flint, 26 February 1863.  Norman served as a substitute for Charles D. Pitts of Brandon during the Civil War.  He enlisted 10 August 1863 in Company B, 3rd Vermont Infantry, and died of wounds received at the battle of Cold Harbor.  He is buried in the national cemetery there.

3.       Truman L. Brink, b. 01 May 1842, d. 11 October 1895, m. 1) Louisa E. Miller, 24 May 1865, 2) Ellen V. Prior, 31 December 1868.  Truman served as a private in the 2nd Vermont Battery of Light Artillery from 1861-1862, when he was discharged for disability, and as a private in Company F of the 1st Vermont Cavalry from 1863-1865.  He applied for an invalid’s pension in 1880.  His wife, Ellen applied for a widow’s pension following his death in 1895.  Children:  Addie S. Brink, b. 01 October 1871, Charles William Brink, b. 10 June 1873, Fred Augustus Brink, b. 19 July 1874.  His gravestone in Bingo Cemetery notes his Civil War service and reads “Safe at home with Jesus.” 

     

4.       Henry Francis Brink, b. February 1844, d. 17 May 1920, m. 1) Lydia M. Swain, 1847, 2) Mary J. Luther, 1844.

5.       Darwin Azro Brink, b. 08 August 1846, d. 16 December 1927 in Brandon, VT.  He served as a private in Company of the 1st Vermont Cavalry from 1863-1865.  He was taken prisoner of war at Mechanicsburg, VA 01 March 1864, and paroled 16 April 1864.  He was transferred into the Veteran Reserve Corps during the final months of the war.  He married 1) Julia Phoebe Howard, 24 October 1865, 2) Phebe Addie Blood, 25 February 1872.  Children:  Walter H. Brink, b. 15 October 1866, Delina Selma Brink, b. 29 May 1870, Everett Brink, b. 02 December 1873.   Darwin’s first marriage to Julia Howard ended in divorce with the“libelant wife” and “severity and refusal to support,” 10 February 1868.  His second marriage to Phebe Blood also ended in divorce, 23 April 1873 with the charges “libelant husband” and “adultery.”  He is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandon, VT.

6.       Alice E. Brink, b. 05 February 1849, d. 02 March 1865 of consumption, unmarried.

7.       Christina Isabell Brink, b. 19 July 1853, d. 09 March 1901, m. John M. Thorton, 14 June 1873 in Fair Haven, VT.

Rochester, Windsor County, VT (dwelling 117).  William Brink, Jr. (39) and wife Polly (33) have six children:  Maria (12), Norman (10), Truman (8), Henry (6), Asro (3), and Alice (1).   Their household also includes William’s parents, William (81) and Naoma (70).  Real estate $200.
