All students participating in UVM-approved study abroad programs have to participate in a pre-departure orientation with the Office of International Education. This covers core health and safety, logistical, financial, and academic matters that are important for students to understand prior to going abroad. Use this website to understand the date for the all-student session as well as program-specific requirements you may have offered either by UVM's study abroad team, your program provider, or host institution.

Note: the below is for semester, year-long, and summer study abroad programs only. Students participating in UVM Travel Study programs should follow the instructions for their individual course.

Virtual Pre-departure Orientation Required for ALL Students

All students participating in a study abroad program (excepting travel study) that begins in Spring or Summer 2024 must attend our virtual Pre-departure Orientation. This is a virtual event and family members are welcome.
