Clinical Assistant Professor

Martha Whitfield teaches in the graduate nursing program and practices clinically as a family nurse practitioner at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. She was previously Director of Centralized Clinical Support for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. Her primary research focus is nurse practitioner treatment of addiction within primary care settings. Other interests include qualitative research methodologies, philosophy of nursing, nurse practitioner education, and the intersection of arts and health. Martha completed her doctoral studies in Nursing at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She is a graduate of the Vermont Leadership Institute.
