Maegan in her office.

"In this photo I am in my office at Harvard forest! Harvard forest is 400 acres of forest in western Massachusetts owned by Harvard University (ancestral land of the Nipmuc people) where they conduct all sorts of long term ecological research (LTER). This summer I lived at the forest as an intern and learned all about ecological modeling. I created and completed a research project that studied how climate change will affect forest carbon storage in New England forests, and how different land management practices are involved in this interaction. In this photo I am running my forest simulation model on one computer screen and analyzing a previous run in R studios on the other screen. On the phone I have the highly acclaimed ecologists Nuneray and Keeton! Just kidding.... the phone is merely there as a prop. I really love this photo because it embodies my experience at Harvard forest so well. I wasn’t a field researcher like most of the other interns, me and my project partner were office workers! So we did a fun photo shoot where we dressed up really fancy and tried to look like Wall street workers. I think it shows how much fun I had with my job and is very true to what my day-to-day actually looked like- anytime you passed my office I always had a simulation running, R studios open, and of course, a smile on my face!"
