Lecturer

MYLES DAVID JEWELL earned a Master of Arts in Cinema Studies from New York University and an Advanced Certificate from The Program in Culture and Media. His scholarship focuses on the tension between fiction and non-fiction and is rooted in Ethnographic approaches to media. He believes firmly in the ethics of representation and collaborative approaches to media production. His inter-disciplinary approach crosses many areas of interest, including but not limited to values based documentary, co-collaboration and creation, as well as community media access. His classes focus on producing media for community partners, either as service or civic learning. His classes include Docs for Social Change, Sports Media and Community Media Production. In Community Media Production, he is collaborating with the local community media access station, The Center for Media and Democracy (CCTV) as a community partner and he is also co-creating and producing a feature length documentary about the rich history of this local media institution.
Myles is also a freelance filmmaker and content creator. He runs Pennington Productions and works independently on both feature documentaries and narrative films. He has directed and produced his own work since 2008, including film festival laurels for both his short and feature documentaries.
